ABOUT US

About Thoroughbred Floats & Engineering and Storage Care Hub

The Thoroughbred name has been trusted in New Zealand for decades for building and caring for quality horse floats, trailers and recreational vehicles. The same team behind Thoroughbred Floats & Engineering also runs Storage Care Hub, bringing workshop-level care into secure storage, valet and ongoing vehicle management.

We created Storage Care Hub because we kept seeing the same problem. People love their camper, caravan, float, boat or work vehicle, but life gets busy. Maintenance gets delayed, compliance dates creep up, batteries go flat, and the day before a trip becomes stressful. Storage Care Hub is the practical solution: safe storage plus the care that keeps your vehicle ready and reliable.

Built to suit

We offer a wide range of float options including straight and angle loads, and two or three horse configurations. If a standard option does not fit your needs, our team can also deliver custom builds to your specifications.

Care that continues

A Thoroughbred Float is an investment backed by proven resale value, but more importantly by quality materials and a quality manufacturing process. We look after our trailers and our customers long after they leave the factory.

Storage Care Hub extends that same commitment beyond the workshop with secure storage, maintenance coordination, compliance support, washing and grooming, and optional concierge add ons so your vehicle stays looked after even when you are not nearby.

Our story

Thoroughbred Floats was originally established by Tony and Ngaire in 1977, beginning with the Campomatic range and building the Thoroughbred reputation through outstanding workmanship and customer service. In 2007, Chris and Tracey purchased the business and brought extensive industry knowledge, including the development of the angle load float. In November 2011, Mark Aarts and Alanna Aarts took ownership with a clear vision to strengthen the brand, continue improving build quality, and grow a business customers can rely on long term.

After COVID, Thoroughbred expanded to include a dedicated engineering division, providing certified LT400 welding and repair work to support both new builds and existing vehicles. In 2024, the business grew again with the purchase of Trailerworld, with founder Paul coming along for the ride and adding his expertise to the team.

Today, Mark Aarts and Alanna Aarts also operate Storage Care Hub. It is the same standards, the same people, and the same commitment to doing things properly. Combined, the management team now brings around 180 years of experience across floats, trailers, recreational vehicles and engineering – which means real peace of mind for our customers.

CARE, NOT JUST STORAGE

We treat every vehicle like it’s our own. Storage is only the start. We focus on condition, readiness, and doing the small things that prevent big headaches.
